Teaching Artists
We are currently seeking teaching artists for our virtual Spring Break art workshops. These workshops will be offered to local students and their families in our Gateway Cities / Southeast LA communities, and will be geared towards two age groups: 7–10 and 11–14.
This opportunity is made possible by the LA Plaza & Eastside Arts Initiative.

Our workshops
Details
Our Stay Young program nurtures creative exploration in our local Southeast Los Angeles youth and their families. We provide arts-based workshops that develop healthy outlets for self expression and inspire experiences of joy, connection and self reflection. To make our workshops as accessible as possible, they will be based on a tiered-ticketing structure that allows families to choose a ticket price based on their financial needs. Any necessary art materials will be provided by Stay Arts.
Workshop Dates
By applying, you will be considered to lead a workshop (or multiple workshops) for our Spring Break art workshops, March 29 – April 9, 2021. Your application will also be kept on file for other future art workshops.
Types of Workshops
We are currently looking for teaching artists to develop and lead:
Hands-on visual art workshops
Media & digital art workshops
Performing art & movement workshops
Step-by-step visual art workshops for families
* All workshops will be geared towards two age groups, 7–10 and 11–14
Our teaching artists
Responsibilities
Creating and leading a 1.5 hour arts-based workshop for students
Developing a written framework or outline of the workshop
Sourcing necessary art materials for the workshop, if applicable
Timely communication and collaboration with Stay Team
Modeling and upholding our organization’s mission through your teachings
Qualifications
At least two years of teaching artist experience
Experience creating arts-based workshops and/or curriculum
Comfortable with managing and leading groups of young children
Commitment to the emotional and social wellbeing of the students you teach
Commitment to anti-racism and best practices in Equity, Diversity and Inclusion
Strong communication, collaboration and self-starting skills
Working desktop or laptop to access Zoom
Other Skills
* not required but preferable
Spanish-speaking
Foundational understanding and modeling of Social Emotional Learning (SEL) competencies
Experience guiding children through mindfulness-based practices, such as breathing and visualizations
Compensation
$100 per workshop ($50/hour)
1.5 hours of teaching + half hour of workshop development
