The Other
An Unpopular Opinion
About the exhibition
Stay Gallery is pleased to present The Other: An Unpopular Opinion, a debut solo exhibition displaying new works from Los Angeles based creator, BLAK KANVAS. This exhibition features a series of acrylic, charcoal and oil paintings on raw, un-stretched canvas.
As a self taught, self reliant artist, BLAK KANVAS draws inspiration from her every day experiences, interactions and conversations. Her works merge personalized textual commentary with colorful, collaged imagery. Deeply personal, yet applicable to an outside viewer’s perspective, BLAK KANVAS’ works cycle through the layers of human emotion.

About the artist
BLAK KANVAS
Suni Mullen, known as BLAK KANVAS, grew up in Mid City Los Angeles in a family of three. The arts were a fundamental driving force in the household, allowing for access and exposure to possibilities beyond the standard norm.
Influenced by hanging pieces by Pablo Picasso and Paul Gaugin, a young BLAK KANVAS began to accent the home with original works as well. Since then, authentic pieces have been created, sold and shared.
